Danielle Scutt for Freedom at Topshop

the up and coming Danielle Scutt recently launched into the world of jewelry with a premium collection for Freedom at TopshopIn times of economic crisis, the two "luxury" items which flourish in the women’s sector are lipstick and jewellery,” says Scutt. the jewelry line is said to be inspired by an extensive range of references from Prévost's Manon Lescaut to Ray Petri's "buffalo" style, through the work of Frida Kahlo and Peggy Guggenheim, and based on the themes of luxury, feminism and surrealism. the first ever premium jewelry collection by the high street brand Freedom, it evokes the flamboyant mix of Dynasty, Versace and Moschino in the prime 80s & 90s.

Danielle Scutt's AW2011 collection shown at recent LFW:

after the hiatus of a 6-mth break, Scutt returns to the fashion scene with also making a return to her 80s fixation of fierce glamor in a more grown-up, polished manner. be on the lookout for more refreshing collections from this young talent.
back to the jewelry - teapots and lipsticks may not seem relevant but when entwined in bold and gold chains or put together in a geometric whimsical design, the look is truly modern decadent. personally I have this love/hate tug of war for excessive kitsch. going OTT on clothes is a tough test on one's self confidence but somehow this never applies to costume jewelry. the more bold, the more beautiful.

the collection defines affordable luxury well with item starting from £25. the statement Show pieces from Scutt's AW 2011 show will retail exclusively online on from April 1. The secondary Mainline collection will launch at key Topshop stores from May 1.
